Soggy Start to University...

...but very good none the less!

So, now in week two of my first year of study at the UEA and already I'm feeling very comfortable.. in fact, the subjects of study excite me! Over the last week I feel I have become quite familiar with the various union facilities, particularly the Hive cafe which serves excellent coffee and fresh fruit juice (I'm sat in the hive now, whilst I type this blog!)

Lectures at first sound very stereotypical... long and boring. In fact, I have found them anything but that! The time flies by in a lecture, I am finding the subject matter extremely interesting and generally get excited to research it more!

So far I have completed one essay - which admittedly, was rather cruel being handwritten and 4 - 6 sides of A4. The subject was technology and student life, it was fun researching, but the handwriting element got painful but mentally and physically! (especially when referencing!). Well, its out of the way now, it was good to experience it this way, the essay wont count towards any unit marks, but allows the University to also advise on English skills and legibility of handwriting.

My degree is a joint degree awarded by the School of Computing Sciences and Norwich Business School. So, the subjects I am studying this year are are mainly business related, but do include computing as well:

  • Computing Systems 1
  • Information Systems and Business Research
  • Introduction to Business
  • Introduction to Financial and Management Accounting
  • Introduction to Organisational Behaviour
  • Programming
Quite intense, but very enjoyable!
